FAQs

Q: How will I know if my child’s game or practice will be cancelled due to rain or other bad weather?
A: Practices and games will not be cancelled due to rain alone unless the County closes the fields due to potential damage from flooding. Games and practices will be cancelled if there is lightning close by. Contact your coach if you are unsure. Please remember that South Florida weather is highly unpredictable, so advance notice of cancellations may not always be possible.

Q: What is the length of the playing season?
A: The season runs from mid-January through the end of April.

Q: Are the teams formed based on age, size, or grade?
A: The teams are based on the grade your child is in during the season.

Q: Where are practices and games held?
A: All practices and home games are held at the north fields of the South County Regional Park (Yamato Road and Ocean Mist Drive, west of US 441). Away games are held at various locations that are outlined in the Field Info section of this website.

Q: Is previous experience necessary if my child is joining at one of the higher divisions?
A: New players are welcome in all of the divisions. Coaches will stress the fundamentals at practices, such as scooping, passing and catching. We want it to be a fun and educational experience for players of all levels.

Q: How can my child learn some basic skills prior to the start of the season?
A: We will be holding free clinics prior to and during the season. Keep checking the Clinics section of this website for updated info.

Q: Does the League provide the equipment for my child to play?
A: No, it is the responsibility of the parents to make sure their child has all of the required equipment. For boys, this includes lacrosse stick, helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, mouthpiece, athletic supporter, and cleats. For girls, required equipment includes lacrosse stick, eye guard, mouthpiece and cleats. You can purchase the equipment at a discounted rate at Stickhead Lacrosse in Boca Raton.

Q: Can I coach my child’s team?
A: We need and encourage parent coaches! Experience in lacrosse is preferred, but is not required. However, dependability, punctuality, and the ability to work well with kids are important to us. We appreciate those who are willing to help out, and will work with you on the specifics of lacrosse as needed.

Q: Can I sponsor a team or make a donation to Boca Jets Lacrosse?
A: Absolutely! We are actively seeking sponsors for all divisions for the 2009 season. Simply complete either the Team Sponsorship Form or the League Sponsorship Form and return it to: Boca Jets Lacrosse, PO Box 812612, Boca Raton, FL 33481. Every little bit helps!
